Mission

The Washington Tigers Parent Teacher Organization is dedicated to strengthening the partnership between parents and teachers to create an enriching educational environment for every child. We believe that open communication and collaboration are essential to fostering a supportive school community. Our mission is to encourage active involvement from parents, build relationships with educators, and promote academic excellence. Together, we work to provide resources and programs that benefit our entire Washington Tigers community, ensuring that all children can thrive in a nurturing and connected atmosphere. Go Tigers!

The PTO’s Contributions

PTO activity and funding plays a vital role in enhancing the educational experience for our students through various initiatives and funding opportunities. Here’s how our efforts directly benefit students:

  1. Grade-Level Grants: The PTO provides grants for each elementary grade level, enabling teachers to access resources and materials that enrich their classroom activities. Already in the 2024-25 school year the PTO has funded grade-level projects such as:
    • Books for the Kindergarten Character Strong Curriculum
    • Supplies for the 4th grade Ethnic Fair, where students research family ancestry and learn about their heritage.
    • Purchasing supplies for the 5th grade year-long Composting unit, which emphasizes the connections between ecosystems.
    • Pumpkins from Feltz’s Dairy Store for 2nd grader’s to study, measure, and unleash their creativity upon.
    • Buying the caterpillars for the 1st grade’s annual Butterfly project.
  2. Field Trip Support: We contribute towards students’ field trips and help cover bussing/transportation costs, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to explore new environments and learn outside the classroom.
  3. Student Safety Activities: The PTO funds provides funding for Student Safety Cadets.
  4. Teacher Appreciation Week: We recognize and celebrate our dedicated teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week, providing support and resources that acknowledge their hard work.
  5. 6th Grade Graduation: The PTO provides funds toward the 6th grade graduation, making this milestone a memorable event for students and families.

Each year the Washington PTO funds some larger, unique projects as well, such as purchasing the buddy benches throughout the Washington hallways or repainting the playground over the summer of 2024. We are currently building a larger savings fund to contribute to refreshing or even replacing the existing playground equipment.
